I had this problem once or twice before, but it went away when I
restarted Word.
Try it?

Press Ctrl+D.

This will bring up the Font Dialog box.

Choose your desired font and size.

Now click on the Default button in the bottom left of the dialog box.

This will make the font you have chosen as the default for all normal documents.
