Question How to remove Windows 7?

Here is the situation:
C: WinXP
I: Windows 7

Now how do i get rid of Windows 7 without messing with the WinXP installation.

I don't want to re-install WinXP.

Have ya guys seen the OS selection screen for dual boot machines using XP and 7? The bootloader is not the one installed by XP, its the one installed by Win 7.

Figure that out? I can delete the I partition but my problem is that the OS selection screen will still be the one used by Win 7. How will i get the old boot.ini screen?

do you know how to set a Active Partition.
try this link : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228004
or simply google it.

set your c drive as active partition.

don't you see the problem here. win 7 loader/bootmgr gets loaded first and all are in C drive. then i can boot either win7 or winXP. after choosing winXp ntldr comes to work.

hmm there may be workaround, but i wanna be sure. will the fixmbr command work just to make my machine to boot into Xp directly without loading the boot manager for Win 7?

I think should work but do backup your data first.

easiest way i can see is edit your boot.ini file.
and remove windows 7 entry from it.
then format I drive (windows 7 drive)

Boot from xp cd then at the first user interface just press r to go to the recovery console. There you will see two things c:\windows and d:\windows
(i am supposing ur win 7 to be in d drive) you will be asked to choose the windows press 1 enter then you will be asked the administrator password enter it if you have one after that type FIXBOOT it will ask you to confirm to overwrite boot secter press Y enter then type exit. You are done. Now boot in xp and delete the files you want to (including FOLDER "windows" if you don't want to format your drive)If it works (as it did for me while using vista and win 7 both) just post a thank DIGIT.
