Default internet connection sharing using a switch

We have 2 laptops, both running windows 7 ultimate.

Internet connection is by 5net so we only have a LAN cable which is inserted into the LAN port and then we can dial. No modem.

We have a LAN switch available and no router. Is it possible to share the internet connection through the switch without a router?

When the internet cable is connected to the switch, and the 2 laptops are connected to the switch via separate cables, only 1 laptop can access the internet at a time.

5net registers the MAC address of the LAN card and only registered LAN cards can access the intrernet.

Google searches have shown that it is possible to connect both laptops to the internet using the switch, but I haven't been able to find a clear explanation anywhere.

Please help.

P.S.- Sharing over wifi turned out to be a very hit and miss approach so it is not really an option right now.

set up a proxy server(http://www.analogx.com/) in in the laptop with registered lan card.

connect both ur laptops through switch. get the ip information of the registered laptop.
in the other laptop, goto internet options,->connection->lan settings->check the proxy server option->in the address field, type the local ip of the laptop registered. in the port field,
type 6588.
save the settings, and then try if it wrks.

i hope this might help.
