Unable to change computer name

Hi
I know many will be angry by seeing the title, but I have searched the forum, the problem what Iam facing is not seen.

When I tried to change the name of the computer with the acoount which has administrative privileges the following error is reported.

" An exception occured while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sysdm.cpl, No execute process exception, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\rundll32.exe "

The OS is win xp prefessional

is it a fresh install? did u try changing the name from safe mode?

MS has retred the new SID (NewSID v4.10), but u can still use it to see if u can rename ur computer using that utility.
is ur windows xp in production or ur home PC
