How to make excel format Day,Month,Date,Year- this order

Dear All,

I have a spreadsheet with a single columns of dates I would like to sort by the order as they appear in the calder with out loosing the current format of Day, Month, Date den year.
eg :-

OK here goes.

1. Did you actually select the dates (Highlight all of them) and then just click the sort button on your toolbar?

2. Try selecting the cells and then go to Format and select Dates and then try sorting it again.

3. If you find that they don't sort the way you want it usually its because your dates aren't actually stored as dates but its stored as text. In such a case you could try this. First save your data. Then go to an empty cell and type the number 1 . Select that cell and then go to Edit > Copy . Select all the cells with the dates in it. Go to Edit > Paste Special > Multiply. This should change the dates to numbers if they follow the standard date format. Format the numbers to whatever format you want using the Format option and now try sorting it like usual.

PS: I use Excel 2000 since I really doubt I need anything beyond its capabilities . There might be easier solutions but these are the oens that come to my mind.
