Broadband Speed Question...

Wondering about this...

I have BSNL 1350 plan which advertises 512kbps.

Speedtest.net shows me...




on utorrent, the speedgraph peaks at 50-60 kbps...


Is this reasonable?
am i missing out on some settings that should make my d/l speed higher?
anyone else with the same plan getting better speeds?

I have already googled and made some tweaks based on some recommendations i found, but it hasnt effected my d/l speed by much...

any advice?

This is the right speed u are getting on ur 512Kbps, so don't worry

I hope you havent misunderstood the question, though

It was not about my overall speed result...i can see those are fine...

It was about the utorrent speed on healthy torrents...is that okay? I've heard of people getting upto half their max speeds on data transfer.a 256 kbps touchtel i have used earlier would give 80-90 kbps on Azereus at times...now i have a connection with a faster advertised speed and a better client and by that ratio i should be getting 160 kbps at least, shouldnt i?

See you have a connection which provides you a speed of 512kbps.
kbps here means kilobits per second not kilobytes.
8 Bits= 1 Byte
So, 512Kilobits = 512/8= 64 Kilobytes.
This means that you should be getting download speeds of around 64kBps. Try to understand the difference between kbps and kBps.
