Help Please....unwanted folders and files showin up in Ext.HD??????

hey guys this is serious......i've got abt 500's of files and folders in my WD 500GB ext HD.....i didnt lose any data....but i've got to remove all these files....when i try to delete them it gives a message like "the source file doesn't exist".....the files are about 1.27TB......and the size of my hd is 500GB.....i knew this is not possible.....i didnt lose any data......pls help removin these junk files.........i need serious help......please........

If these files are genuine data files that need to be deleted, and refuse to go away, then you have to run scandisk from command line as follows:

CHKDSK [drive:] /F /V

How to use this? Plug in your external hard disk. See the drive letter in My Computer. For example, if it is E then

CHKDSK E: /F /V

To open a command prompt, Start->Run
command
press ENTER
