Default Drive not opening

I have two operating systems, one centred in C and another in E. I mostly use the E drive and it is near full. Today there was a power cut, and as my ups is out of repairs, the computer was shut down abruptly.

After the power came I find that the OS on E is not opening.

I tried safe mode etc. but when the black XP screen comes it just reboots.

I opened the OS on C and tried to open the E drive. It says 'Drive E is not formatted. Do you want to format now ?'

I have a lot of important files in E and do not want them erased by formatting.

I tried a disc check, nothing happened. I tried to defrag, it said there was error on E and I tried to back up, all files were skipped and error was reported.

Please tell me what I can do to save my drive ? It's very urgent. I do not want to lose my files. PLEASE HELP!

Default Re: Drive not opening

try using Windows Installation CD and at the installation screen select repair Windows. If it doesnt work check if your hard disk for any errors
