Default <<Maintain a Virus Zoo>> at USB drive.possible..?

hi friends.
i have to know that how to store virus-infected files in a pen drive..
silly doubt.. i asks seriously.
anybody know how to store infected-files of some important viruses in a USB drive.
is there any specialized site to download virus-infected files ..like virus zoo.?
my intention to keep virus infected files is to maintain a USB drive for setting up a virus zoo only for testing purpose.. (to check the various anti virus software)
i have searched google but no satisfactory answers.

i got an answer from guru3d forums..8)
"the quarantine folder" is the answer..
and one guy said that most of the tech mag use the quarantine folder as virus zoo to testing various anti virus software.
anybody have different opinion here

How do they manage to keep the virus from wreaking havoc?
Say, why don't you try archiving the viruses and then putting them in usb drives. Don't forget to disable autorun though.

loll

anyways if you want viruses,go to warez sites and download like no tomorrow chances are that 1/10 of those come with uploaders' own payload(use a fool proof firewall and a good anti virus unless you want to end up as another node of a botnet),or use a p2p application and download >5mb files(single mp3s etc) almost always they're infected..and there's always the local collage like this guy said lol those pcs are like electronic petree dishes

Possible and Risky. Use Linux to move the virus files. U can download some of the old worms, trojans from pirate bay.

Dont try with new ones or rootkits, they will mess up ur comp. And always keep a backup of ur OS ready.

Go to dailykeys.com. Each and every exe file contains a virus, spyware and malware there.

The McAfee guys have tested this site..... you can find the details here..

^^ I googled it coz I forgot if it was .com or .net ot .ws.
Actually I downloaded 3 files from there altogether, and on double clicking them, by entire computer was shut down. I tried downloading three files one after the other to see if there existed one file at least which contained no virus. but failed each time.

@ Betruger, you're from Mars and a living being too, am I right ? 8)

According to scientists, the possible living being in Mars can only be viruses. This suggests that you are nothing but a virus. So the virus zoo you are talking about is totally incomplete without you. I fear even after you get in the zoo there is least chance to detect with any earthly antivirus softwares. So better check other threads from other planets for more info .

The files which your antivirus quarantines are the specific files which you want.

> Temporarily disable your antivirus software's real time protection
> Restore the virus.exe file from quarantine to your desktop
> Rename it from virus.exe to virus.Vexe
> Cut paste it to your usb drive
> Enable your antivirus software's real time protection

Just be careful that you rename the file by using the right click menu because otherwise there is a chance that you could accidentally execute the virus when trying to rename it with the delayed left click. The virus can't execute by itself. Unless somebody double clicks it or its executed by some script, it will not cause any harm by just having the file on your comp/usb. If you are uneasy about leaving virus.Vexe in the open, then just store it in a winzip archive. That way you can still scan the zip archive with different antivirus softwares on different computers and do whatever tests you want to do.

i browsed some porn website with real time protection on.. i see the anti virus blocking some transferring files from the site.. but when i disable the real-time protection, i could not find the exact location of the above transferred-infected files in hard disk.

I think you must ask your question in the forums of Anti-Viruses makers:

http://forum.kaspersky.com/
http://freeforum.avg.com/
http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?langid=1

Clearly say there what you want and why? Also you can try: http://answers.yahoo.com/

I also have to admit that maintaing a Virus Zoo for testing purpose is good idea but this is extremely dangerous for your PC. If somehow you get the virus zoo/bunch of viruses than you have to use Linux Live CD for downloading them.
