Did you delete Norton or just install Kaspersky as well? Make sure only one of them is installed at a time.

get bandwidth monitor(it has a 30 day trial if i'm not mistaken) it shows the actual network usage at a given time,so if it says something and you're getting another thing then it can only mean that your system is hijacked:\

There maybe some broken registry entries. Do one thing

1. Use Tune Up Utilities to correct the registry settings. There is also an option in Tune up utlities to optimize your Internet Connection.

2. Also download ATF cleaner and clear out the unnecessary files out of the PC.

3. There may be some programs which takes up the bandwidth and automatically gets started. Install a firewall and block them.

It may also be due to some disturbance in your connection, after some time it should come back to normal...
