Default Windows XP boot trouble

I did a clean install of xp pro and then installed windows vista on a separate partition. Now i can't access xp. It doesn't show up on the boot menu but the partition is accessible from vista. How do i get xp back without formatting?

well, normally, its best to install XP first and then Vista over it to be safe guard against such problems..

Default Re: Windows XP boot trouble

Please read the thread again. That is exactly what i did. Xp disappeared AFTER i installed vista on a separate partition. I tried vistabootpro and added an entry for windows xp, but even then it doesn't work. Some error about ntfs file system not detected or something. The ntldr and ntdetect.com files are still on the drive so its not a problem with them.
