Default MS Windows XP Pro - WGA

First of all this is my first post and apologies if this has been dealt with already, I have done a quick search but couldn't find the answer...

Each time I log into Windows now it advises that it is not a genuine version of Windows installed:
"You may be a victim of software counterfeiting. This copy of Windows did not pass genuine Windows validation".

As far as I'm aware the copy installed is the OEM copy bundled with my laptop which I purchased 3 years ago through an EPP (Employee Purchase Programme) at work (I don't think I've got the receipt for this anywhere )
There is even the sticker underneath with a Product Key for XP Pro and it appears to be genuine.
Microsoft seem to require the Install CD to provide a new key - I don't have this, XP came pre-installed... Anyone know what I should do?

You can use "muBlinder" to get rid of it. (Check the forum, many people got the same problem)

Make sure you do a manual update next time. In MS home site, add it to the ignore list.

If you do automatic update, "WGA" will be installed again without your permission (ofcourse, MS's EULA supports it)

Why now a days WPA is coming out for original activated windows ??? I think ms is secretly supporting Win7 so that we have to upgrade it when it comes out....lol

Jokes apart you should consider upgrading to sp3 and then try the fix mentioned by mittyr
