Use Tune Up Utilities

http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

for cleaning up registry, deleting temp files etc...This should really make you pc run fast.
Also, don't forget to defrag your hard disks. For freeware alternative use CCleaner

^^

yup, CCleaner is a really good tool for removing unwanted registry values..
----------

also, to the OP: make sure, u hv a good AV+Firewall installed onto ur system.. like say KIS,NOD32 or AVG (all three are good, plz... no debates here..lol.. )
------------
Along, with an Antispyware s.ware, go for Super Antispyware

Try to defragment the drives and use TuneUp Utilities. Use the memory optimizer to clear memory. Clear the ticks from the startup tab of MSConfig and clear the temp directory.

also check for viruses. many a times virus infections slow down the computer. remove unnecessary installations. check if unnecessary processes are running.
