Default VMware networiking??

I am running a XP SP2 VM inside vista home premium. I am not able to access my Guest OS (XP SP2) path \\Vm1\C$ from my Host OS (Vista). When i tried to map a network drive a got an error that network path not found. What could be the reason?

Another problem i am facing is that my Guest OS is changing its IP address after every 5 min. I want to assign static IP to my Host OS and Guest OS. How can i do the same?

Default Re: VMware networiking??

hello thr, i m also using vmware since ver 4 now current ver is 6.5.1

If u want to do networking with host & guest os only then in vmware os set ethernet to host only

And if u want to also connect with outside network & internet then in vmware os set ethernet to NAT or Bridged mode

Always use static IP address for less problem

In host os network connections set static ip address to vmware adapters (Thr r 2 )
Like 192.168.0.1 (255.255.255.0)

And in guest os 192.168.0.2 or xx (255.255.255.0)
Set gateway & DNS for internet configuration
U can also join both os to a same workgroup

VMware Shared Folders is simple thing just follow the instructions
After sharing, in guest os u will find shared folders under network connection /Host

If u need any help ask
