Default Gtalk memory usage

Problem: Over time gtalk consumes a lot of memory 200Mb.

Description:
I had seen many times that gtalk consumes a lot of memory close to 200Mb some time.
I subscribed to the gtalk IBN alearts. they usually sends update message every 30 min or so.
while the system boots the gtalk size is 13M soon it bloats like any thing.

Query:
1. Had some body else also face the same issue.
2. Is there a way out of this issue.

Regards,
Amit Kumar Malik

I had used gTalk in the past, but did not experience any such issues. Check if an update is available, or you may need to close and restart GTalk at intervals!

Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded to latest Gtalk from google and installed. At start all was find 13 - 17Mb but again it started bloating up and some times it reaches to 170Mb.
Google update is also removed from the startup. I am not seeing it in Task list as well.
Now as i restarted the system its 13Mb but soon it will bloat.

Thanks to all.
Finally i weed out the Gtalk from my system and installed pidgin (http://www.pidgin.im/).
Its really good, I am online on yahoo/ gtalk/ sametime with the single program and the footprint is very small 8Mb (unbelievable).
