problem writing dvds and cds

i am facing a trouble with my dvd writer. it takes almost to 1 hour to write a dvd and almost 30 min.to write cds.
whenever i try to write cds and dvds using nero and other burning software it tells me to enable DMA mode and after enabling it says to reboot my system for changes to take effect. but after rebooting same problem occures. again it asks me to enable DMA mode.
what is the problem???

My Computer > Hardware > Device Manager > "Click/Expand" IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.

Then "Select" Primary IDE Channel > "Right Click" Properties > Advanced Settings > Transfer Mode "If its "PIO Only" change it to "DMA if available". Do the same for "Secondary" if its there.

If your not able to select or switch to "DMA Mode", "Right Click" on Primary IDE Channel and "Uninstall" it. Dont worry Windows will recognize it in next boot-up
