what is data execution prevention?

whenever i'm connecting to internet, "Data execution prevention for generic host process 32"this dialog box is coming and if i close it, net is not working. even no data tranfer is taking place. i have to restart my system.

is this data execution prevention of any help? or i can manually configure to close it. if it can be closed, tell me the procedure to do so

DEP is good for security... generic host process generally means svchost.exe... thats the container under which several services run including the all important RPC... if DEP is stopping you, then it most probably means that there is something suspicious trying to run as a service... do a scan and check... also check in services.msc and see if you find something odd
