Could be background process.. Try burning after restarting.. If its a pc, then try the drive on another pc..

Try by burning the disc in lower speeds, When i used to burn DVD's at 8x speed or sometimes in 6x, i used to get the same error. The burning would fail. But after i started burning the discs at 4x speed, i never got any Error.

What you do is disable you anti virus, anti spyware, antishitwhatever, turn off your internet connection, and then try burning at 4x

I dont have any antivirus installed as I solely trust Windows Defender
And why turn off internet connection ?
Do uTorrent and KMPlayer really interfere in burning DVD's ... How ? :S

I always burn @ 4X or 6X never more than that.

It could be due to KM Player, especially if you are playing video...

As said, better to leave the burning al alone. Try a diff burning appn to make sure its not Nero.

@sureshpaladi

PC Specs?? OS??

Try this it shud solve it

My Computer > Hardware > Device Manager > "Click/Expand" IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.

Then "Select" Primary IDE Channel > "Right Click" Properties > Advanced Settings > Transfer Mode "If its "PIO Only" change it to "DMA if available". Do the same for "Secondary" if its there.

If your not able to select or switch to "DMA Mode", "Right Click" on Primary IDE Channel and "Uninstall" it. Dont worry Windows will recognize it in next boot-up

Try using other softwares such as CD Burner XP or Ashampoo Burning Studio or anything else.,
If it doesn't work Right Click on Computer | Manage | Device Manager, Choose your DVD Writer and Uninstall and restart the PC windows will reinstall the drivers the next time you switch on the PC.

@Others
Actually what is the use of writing at low speeds, I always prefer to write at maxium speed. Will there be data loss or something when we write at max speed???

@Anorion
Means we need to burn at low speed when we experience failures right ? Do you recommend to write at lower speed all time? I hate to wait for long time when writing DVD's

It's always said that you should close all the application while burning a CD/DVD as it might interfere with the burning process.

@Black Core

If its "Data DVD", yes i wud suggest "slow speed" as they can/may become un-usable when trying to write the compressed data too quickly. U shudn't be worried much about "Video DVD" though.

Does it take more than 10mins to write a DVD@4.38GB ?? If u still want to stick to high-speed, use "DVD+R" as they are more stable
