Unhappy Having issues with my broadband

Hi, today I got my airtel broadband connection. 799 plan 256 kbps unlimited. Now the sites do open and all and most Indian sites work fast but whenever I try to download anything or access international sites like wikipedia the net is dead slow.On airtel broadband speed test it shows my speed is 260 kbps+ but on speedtest.net it shows <60 kbps.

Am at a failure to understand whats going on because I did tons of research before choosing airtel and had heard all praises for it.However I have also heard that due to some issues with the data lines connecting India breaking down all broadbands will have lower speeds for a while.Is anyone else facing the same problems like me???.

Or could it be because its just been 3 hours since I got my connection and the guys at airtel told that it takes atleast 24 hours for the activation report to reach the servers.

Anyone got any clue why am facing this problem??.Spyware?? Malware?? HELP??

As per some NEWS sources complete affect due to cable cut wil be rectified by today and all Internet connection will be restored from tomorrow or on 2nd of Jan. Some sites are slow. But as a precaution have a scan with: http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Also I am on Airtel Too, but don't have problems now. Go for scan and wait for atleast 2 days. Otherwise call the Airtel CC

Give more descriptive title next time.
I haven't heard any Airtel BB user complaining about service. What speed are you getting while downloading any fiile? Wait for some time, the problem must be rectified .
As you have got unlimited always on internet connection, it's must to install antivirus and antispyware software and keep them updated. Also install a firewall.

Must be due to the cable cut in Europe. I heard that the prob will be rectified by the end of the week.
Even so, do scan your PC with updated signatures of your AV and anti-spyware software just to be sure.

Even with my BSNL Home 500 plan my download speed has decreased by 50%. As you say indian sites are opening properly means it is not the problem with airtel but rather due to undersea cable cut. I don't know when they are going to rectify it.

DMs show speed in kilo Bytes per second(kBps) while speedtest(by default) uses kilo bits per second(kbps). That's why that speed while downloading.
1kBps=8kbps
So 32kBps=256kbps which is what you should get on that plan.
