Question Install of any other OS over Win Xp sp2


i have win xp sp2 on my desktop pc and i would like to install any other OS in my system;which Osystem is better?

I have 895 MB of RAM; duo 2 processor@E2180@2.0 ghz P4MSI mobo P4m900 v1.0;is it better to get win xp sp2 at one drive and other OS another drive; it doesnot create conflicts each other?

it is ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS recommended and its a MUST to install any other OS onto a separate partition..

btw, wat OS u wanna giv a try..? I cant recommend u jus abt any OS unless u DONT specify for wat purpose u wanna hv tat OS installed..

U can try

1.) Linux OS (ofcourse its installation procedure is a bit complicated for most newbies but at the same time the MOST STABLE OS),
2.) Windows Vista

etc...

It is good for me to install the vista on another drive or not ; what would u recommend me?

fyi, i am a home user.

If it is I would like to do so.pls provide me with the downloading the free the setup files for vista or linux over win xp

Vista will crawl on your PC. I mean, at about 800MB of ram, forget Vista.
Go for Linux Mint on another partition.

Don't go for Vista unless u upgrade ur ram.
You can try Ubuntu 8.10 - good for new users to try a linux
