Default Restore windows registry files,how?

Some of the functions are not working such as search tab, helpsvc, system restore ta(whenever i tries to system resotre,it shows blank white and same to help and search tab) which I cannot access .The answer I request to restore my windows registry files to initial state which I think I doesnot have backup of the registry files.

Earlier,I used the NTbackup.exe and I backup the system files but I deleted unknowingly and read the articles fore system restore from system. I gone to C:\windows\System32\config to copy the initial registry entries(saved) to C:\windows\temp,it cannot copy saying it is being used by another person.; I have used unlocker but it cannot help me.

I just need to keep the windows to initial state rather that present. Please suggest me ;fyi, just consider I donot have backup of the registry.

thanks $ best

1. You cannot restore registry from within windows. You need to operate from the recovery console only. Unlocker cannot help since the hives are locked from access by the kernel.

2. I recommend you run a good antivirus like Kaspersky or NOD32.

If, when you click on Control Panel or System Restore or such, you get a blank white window, it could possibly be a script problem, and you may have to re-register some dll's.

Try to re-register the following dll files in System32 folder. If you don't find the files, then try to extract then from your Vista setup DVD and copy them to System32 folder first.

vbscript.dll
jscript.dll
mshtml.dll

How to Register / Un-register dll's can be found HERE.
