Default How to get rid of these folders?

I have two HDD's- an 80gb IDE & a 360gb SATA. There are two partitions on the 80gb hdd. A 15gb partition has xp sp3 installed on it.the rest is for data.the 360gb also has two partitions- a 274gb & a 55gb. I installed xp sp2 first & then installed sp3 on top of it separately later. Now every time i switch on my pc there are always about two new folders in my 274gb partition. The folders have long names such as-eja4txja2ptjd5m3.........inside these folders there is an exe file named update that doesnot run.the description says windows update backup.double-clicking on it shows an error.in the details panel the exe shows up as an application.the folders cannot be deleted.-"cannot delete folder.make sure the disk is not full or write protected".the folders get deleted after a system restart but new folders appear again.i have scanned my pc with the latest updated avira antivir & its clean. Why are the folders appearing & how do i get rid of these?
