Default computer not shutting down..

I am having this strange problem ..whenever I shut down my PC it does not shut down properly..I mean 'Windows is shutting down' Log off message stays on the screen permanently although my modem's PC connection light goes off as it does in a normal shutsown..Even the red Hard disk activity light does not blink. I have formatted the system and installed a fresh OS but the problem is persisting..The computer restarts normally..I am wondering what the problem might be

Any Idea guys???

try this trick,
On your desktop, create a new shortcut & as the target, type this string.
shutdown -s -t 00

I think, this will help!

The reason was my Nvidia card(which had the record of reaching 117 C andhad ultimately fried ...I got it replaced and now it's OK)
