windows stops at the login screen

i have this strange problem since this morning, last night i had a blue screen of death once and later it was working fine until it got stuck 3 times. but this morning when i switched my pc on, i can see windows loading and then the mouse shows but the screen is black at the login screen. safe mode works fine.

and may be because of this my ubuntu can not mount any of the NTFS drives. is this connected or coincidence?

how do i solve them both?

Try repairing Windows XP.

actually i did "last known good configuration" and it worked.
i still dont understand what happened and how it effected the mount of my NTFS drives in ubuntu.

Try to use System Restore from Safe Mode. See if it works. All the Best.

if you saw the blue screen of death, then their is definately some hardware problem. open ur system. clean it. plug all wires firmly. check if fan is wrkng properly. if system is heated.. try keep the cpu cabinet open. go through hardware chck.
