New Hardware Found icon not showing in task bar

Dear All,

Whenever, I use a USB Storage Device (Pen Drive / Card Reader), the new hardware found icon is not showing in the task bar due to which I am unable to stop the device before removing it.

However, the said devices are shown in My Computer and is able to access it.

The OS is XP

Please help me.

First of all, why have u created two threads in the same section for this problem??

Try restarting ur explorer

To do this,
1>ctrl+shift+esc
2>Task manager will open, go to "process" tab, select explorer.exe
3> click on end task and click on "yes" on the following message box.
4>Go to Application tab, click on "New Task", at the provided text box, enter explorer.exe and hit "enter".

Do this and let us know if it works.

Have you tried clicking on the < symbol to the left of the system-try to reveal hidden icons? May be it's hidden



Also

Look in your BIOS if Plug and Play is enabled?. Then I think this feature is just launched by Windows when a New Hardware is detected Automatically and doesn't show always just to keep things neat/Tidy on the Taskbar, try to uncheck the [ ] Hide Inactive Icons and Reboot and see if it will appear.

Also

Open the Device Manager and look is there any Big Exclamation Mark? If yes, than you have to update/reinstall your USB Drivers
