Default What kind of a forum is this?

A thread of mine just got deleted. No explanations. And the respondent was the one who was rude - not I. But he is I guess 'a senior member'.

Oh well that's how it works in this country I guess - this post will soon get deleted as well.

what happened? Can you explain a bit more in brief?
What kind of thread was that? Who replied rudely? who deleted the thread?

I posted here about a new app that I had found - syncplicity. The first reply I got said very bluntly that I was advertising for them. [I am a practicing gynaecologist with no commercial interest whatsoever in IT]. After about 8 posts he pointed out where I should have posted. Could he not have done this in the first post itself?

I am a newbie here and dont know my way around so I might have posted in the wrong section - so is it a crime?

I am one of the founder members of a photo forum where we will NEVER treat a newbie like this. There is no moderation and people behave well.

Anyway I guess it reflects on the quality of members/moderators who choose to behave so badly.

Sir, it was not your mistake, but this forum has seen so many spammers and members who join just to promote their sites. In the past, we have had incidences where newbies would post about 10-12 posts and then promote their own websites or blogs. Since you too are new in the forum, it must have been difficult to determine whether you were advertising or not.

Let the bygones be bygones, welcome once again to the forum.

Hi!

I am the one who deleted your thread. But that was only after i read that you had re-posted in the reviews section. I apologise, that i deleted your thread without looking for it in the reviews section, but trust me, there were a LOT of reported threads today, and i guess im the only one online right now (in-fact i was cribbing on the IRC channel that i spent around 45 minutes in the reported threads section ). If you want the deleted thread to be moved into reviews, please let me know, ill be glad to do that.

Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Thanks guys - I really appreciate the replies as well as the explanation. More than makes up for any hurt feelings. In fact the explanation without any apologies would have been more than sufficient.

Thanks.

HI deepak remember me from the monitor thread.....
Yea somethimes mods behave wierd, they are humans after all. I remember one guy advertized hsi gameing site comprehensively some gaming india stuff and he was allowed to do so...... So even I find actions out of the place sometimes, but digit members almost all are very supporting and really make you feel comfortable.......enjoy your stay....

It was me who posted the first reply and reported it to the mods as the thread was not eligible to be in section SOFTWARE TROUBLESHOOTING.

The following statement by the thread creater made the post look spammy.
Quote:
If any of you guys are planning to sign up let me know - I can get a few GB extra.
It wasn't me who pointed out where it should have been posted, as I myself can't decide where it should have been posted(but I am sure, software troubleshooting wasn't the appropriate section). CHITCHAT is there for such threads.

The image of a country depends on the people living in that country. If one wants to change the way something is working, he himself too should get involved for that cause.

I guess - this post will soon get deleted as well.
Should have been moved till now to CHIT CHAT. But I can't do anything, not even report it as it may hurt someone.

But I am sorry if someone didn't liked that .

If you see the site then you will realize that for every invite accepted you get a GB extra [upto 3GB]. That's all I meant. If I was anyway involved with them would I look for a measly 1-2 gb free space?

Why would you want to do anything? OK this is in the wrong forum - so is that such a gross violation?

And you have still not answered as to why it was eight posts before you pointed out where this should have been. If you had wanted to help you could have said that in the very first reply.

Anyway I really am not going to argue any more - you were right and I was wrong. Happy?

Don't want to open the site again as it doesn't provide client for linux . I had signed up during it's beta period and got 5GB when beta was over(2GB free+ 3GB bonus).

Moderators expect the members to report to them any post which is not in appropriate section so that they could move it to the right section. That's what I did.

I don't think that it was me who pointed where it should have been posted.

Allow me to point out that this section is not the right place to post this thread either! It seems, my friend that you've got really bad luck! You should've posted this in the Whining/Complaint Thread over in the Fight Club section! Welcome, yet again, to TD Forums! Mods, time for a lock?

Ok.. Let me clarify a few things:

1. I did not delete the thread because ThinkFree reported it. I was gonna move it, then saw that the OP had posted it again in the Reviews section.
2. I did not move this thread earlier as it would have lead to the same confusion as before, which resulted in this thread in the first place.

Now since the issue is resolved, i am closing this thread.
