best FOLDER LOCK, that wont corrupt after re-installation of windows??
Hi guyz,
i live in hostel in 2-seater room, where my roomie sometime use my PC in my absence, there are some personal pics on my PC, which i've saved in hidden folder. I want to lock these files so he cant view in my absence. Before this i've used some "folder lock" & "fake folder" But sometime when windows get corrupt, i re-install windows and locked files wont open again. So tell me easy2 use FOLDER LOCK, so after re-installation of windows i can recover my locked files with paasword.
Reply soon...........

Re: best FOLDER LOCK, that wont corrupt after re-installation of windows??
I strongly recommend you to carry such content with you all the time on an encrypted (even unencrypted will do) 4 to 8GB pendrive. You can buy a Transcend JetFlash V60 Pendrive for around Rs 400(for 4GB) to 800(for 8GB) plus tax. Its not advisable to leave them on a folder in your PC even if its locked, because someone who knows what he wants can always access them through a linux live CD.

@metalheadgautam, i think it wont be the case exactly as u mentioned about the Linux Live CD.. i mean it can be read only if it is just 'super hidden' by tht third party software. if the software has encrypted it with its own algorithm which that software only 'knows'.. it will just be an 'unknown type' file in Linux Live CD as it cannot de-crypt the whole thing...

He asked for Folder Lock. Folder Locking does not mean encrypting. But the main point is, even if its encrypted, the data can be damaged if someone is allowed access to it. If his photos are really personal and important, the best way to preserve them would be to encrypt and store on a pendrive which he can keep with him
Sandisc Cruzier Micro is thin as a coin and fits in wallet easily.

You can try TrueCrypt
Or better, Use Linux.
Otherwise save all such data in a CD/Pen Drive?DVD etc, and keep that device hidden away.

Use magic folder. If you reinstall windows, just install it again with the same old password. And this should work.....
