Files/folders not visible

my friend's got this strange prob he no longer can see any of his files/folders and thus none of his apps work.even windows search yields nothing plz help!

A bit more clarity on the issue can help...however run an antivirus and spyware scan of your friends PC as it may be infected

it doesn't show any folders thus hiding all the files within too.hence even windows is unable to find any application and it works only if it is reinstalled
