Booting error in XP

Recently my PC refuse to boot and display error like "a disk read error" or "operating system loading error". I also cant boot from XP CD even if i try boot from XP CD, i got same error. Is there any virus or hardware problem?

Check in the bios whether ur hard disk is detected. 99% chance is that ur hard disk is not detected may be due to loose wiring so open the cabinet and check the wire, the data cable and the power cable attach to ur hard disk
