Default Norton Antivirus 2005

HEY Guys.........
It has been a long time since I've visited this forum (went to Italy in the holidays).

Problem...Problem...Problem...

I have recently formatted my PC and have a backup of all the NAV folders.
The prob is that I don't want to download all the product updates and virus definition files again.

Is there a way to get back all the updates and definitions back from the backup ?

PLEASE HELP !

You saved all the NAV folders.
But NAV also installs various system files etc to
various folders apart from the installation folder(Prog.files\nav).
Many files are installed in the directorys windows,system,system32 etc.
Also there are many shared files which are required by application and other programs in the in the shared files folder and other hidden folders.
Various changes are made to system files like index.dat(windows registry), config.sys,win.ini,system32.ini etc.
Without them you wont be able to run the program
and will get errors.
So you will have to run setup to install a fresh copy of nav.
As you say u dont want to download the updated definations i assume you have have a very slow intrnet connection or no connection at all.
As for the definations and updates you can find in
the digit dvd or cd.So you wont have to waste ur bandwidth.

why do u want 2 take chance witn ur system security?? & yes u can get ur virus defination back.... but sorry mate i think there isnt any way to impliment the program update....

well for Virus definetion.... make a cline install of the NAV then just copy this folder
Code:
root:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs
to the same address.....

but every one will recomend to go for a cline install & the an auto update.... (u can ran the last NAV update file provided by digit to reduce the download size..)..... as u went to italy 4 a holyday so gues u will not have any bandwidth problem.... so u should go for a autoupdate.....

Live update supports resuming if u reconnect immidietely. It will show the same amount to download but at the last stages of download it will fetch the already downloaded data from cache.
