Though a Parsi will make good PM, but they are in extreme minority to be able to do anything. I don't think that a Parsi is representing evan a Municipality Council in any of the places they are stying i.e. Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai.

608 pence/share was the last price quoted price by TATA's to win corus....
frankly even i didn't expect TATA's to go so far to grab the deal even so with media buzz about CSN's desperation to buy corus...

Laxmi Naryan Mittal still proudly holds an Indian passport.

BTW, how the wheels turn!

In 1907, when Tata Steel was established, the British colonists created lots of difficulties for the Tatas. But, they survived.

Exactly a 100 years later, Tata Steel bought the biggest British steel company with British funding. What a slap on the face!

It also helps that the richest man in Britain is an Indian.

As Indian companies grow, we will see a lot more of M & A activity from India. Global banks are now more than willing to give loans to Indian companies for M & A activities.

Let's wait for Reliance to show some magic now.

This is what Mr.Ratan Tata says...

Q: Everybody thinks you overpaid for Corus. Your comment?

Quote:

Mr. Ratan Tata : It would have taken us several years to build a steelmaker with 19 million-ton production capacity from scratch, leave alone establishing it in Europe with a brand name. We feel confident the synergies of the two companies will be quite substantial, and we have satisfied ourselves that the company has in no way jeopardized the interests of the shareholders in this acquisition. I believe that over the next few years, we will all come to think that this was a visionary move.

those are only reports ... now ne 1 can say "we set 610/share as the limit and got it done in 608/share" ... thts bull sh!t .... ratan tata is 1 of the few business men who have integrity written all over them ... if he says they not reached the limit it means they wud hv pushed higher ... if tht were the cse he wud hav clearly stated tht they almost reached the limit ....

And unlike some other big corporates in India, Tata believes strongly in social upliftment and has a tradition of giving back to the society. Sir Ratan Tata Trust is one of the examples.
