There is a temporary solution however.The water level in the Idukki dam may be reduced and can be used to contain a portion of the water from Mullaperiyar dam in case a failure occurs.This is being done.But doing so will only reduce the amount of damage caused.

Yea, when broken, 3 districts will be under water. My neighbor district will be under water soon, if the Dam is broken.
If two gvrnmnts agreed for a new dam, imagine the time that take for building a Big dam..!
Here in Kerala, building a bridge of 400 or 500 METER after all those Fuing political issues, is taking 4 to 5 years. So how a DAM in these days.?
