7 yr old shoots 4 yr old with Mom's gun

Flint (Michigan): A four-year-old boy remains in critical condition after police say he was shot by his seven-year-old cousin on Flint's north side.

Authorities say the shooting happened just before 10 pm on Sunday, about 55 miles northwest of Detroit.

Police told The Flint Journal that the seven-year-old boy found a loaded gun in his mother's bedroom, went into his own room, pointed the gun at his cousin and fired.
The four-year old was taken to a local hospital. No further details were released.
The state Department of Human Services is investigating.

I think most of the people in USA have gun license and guns. And some might be using it carelessly and keeping it at places where kids can reach easily.

Really sad Hope the 4yr old recovers fast.

wonder what kind of gun it was? automatic pistols like the Beretta shown on that news page need to be cocked to chamber a round before the first round is fired. i would think that is difficult for a 7 yr old to do/ figure out how to do...

for a 'point and shoot' it would probly be a revolver with safety off, or an automatic (self loading) pistol with a round chambered, hammer cocked and safety off.

they should throw the mother in jail, imho...
