hai my sys configuration is

pentium 4 2.66GHz MB D101...
DDR1 ram 256MB
Inbuilt graphics card(i don't know wat graphics card)
80GB HDD

Friends now my system is getting problem often like when iam working the blue page turned up saying physical memory dump and after it's restart it fails to boot... so tell me why is it so?????

Now give me an idea if i want to upgrade my configuration is it best to add up a graphics card or else 1GB DDR1 RAM

And also please let me know the price of graphics card and DDR1 RAM of all types????

^^ I think it's a problem with your RAM since your PC isn't booting. BTW, does your motherboard support PCI E cards or only AGP cards?? 512 MB of DDR400 RAM from Zion will cost around Rs 1.2 K.

hai iam from chennai , and iam new to this technical world could u plz tell me what is that PCI E cards and AGP....... and i siad i was using DDR1 but u telling d cost for DDR400????

^^ i think since u are on DDR-I, u wont be having a PCI-e (PCI Express is a new tech for graphics) configuration..

hv u checked ur motherboard's manual ?? if u hv lost it, plz search for it online.. and post the details here..

and , u shud add extra RAM say 1 GB DDR-I(400 Mhz speed) and a graphics card (that on board will not take u any far..

1. There should be an error code/filename/error description in the blue screen. Post that.
2. PCIE and AGP are types of interfaces, where your graphics cards can be connected. PCIE is faster than AGP, and your motherboard supports it.
3. DDR400 refers to the speed of the ram, not the version number like DDR1. It runs at 400 MHZ in this case.

well im from Mumbai buddy..

a 1 GB DDR-I RAM from Transcend (working on 400 Mhz speed) will cost u Rs.1900/- (+/- Rs.200)

infact, i wud recommend u NOT to take a single 1 GB GGR-I RAM instead take 2 x 512 MB DDR-I RAMs and make them work in DUAL CHANNEL mode..

i hv 4 x 512 MB DDR-I (400 Mhz) Transcend RAM in dual channel mode..


well, dheeraj said tat ur mobo supports PCI-e card so u cna buy tat too, take a 256 MB or a 512 MB card...

(now-a-days, pci-e cards are alot cheaper than AGP card of the same capacity)

You said your Mobo is D101, it says on intel's site that it supports PCIE. THats what I said in my post above.

For your graphics card details, check the display tab in dxdiag.

Its been a long time since I visited any hardware shops(no trouble yet ) so I dont know. If you want authentic prices, I suggest Devaraj Computers in Anna Salai, near Indian Bank, and Anna Theatre's nearby complex. They are very popular and the customer service is excellent.

I think he(the original poster) shud refer to his manual, coz (i gues) its based on ATI chipset .. is it ?? (as per the details from his dxdiag page saying system manufacturer ATI)

I doubt how ur mobo has PCI-e & also has DDR RAM (coz pci-e mobos support DDR2 RAM)

Btw the price of 1GB DDR 400 (Transcend is between 1.3-1.4K) in MUmbai

Ur mobo supports pcie and i suggest u to go for 1GB DDR 400MHz RAM.. But in chennai proces re sky high compared to other Metro cities...
And get a ASUS 8600GT 256MB DDR2 PCI E Card....coz my niece have the same mobo as u have, and he use 7900GT PCI E in it...

Hey arun, I suggest you buy Zion RAM over Transcend RAM. It'll be cheaper than Transcend RAM. And there aren't any performance differences.

If u have winXP..then open command prompt > type systeminfo
u will see all details of ur PC...

or use 3rd party tools such as pc wizard 2008,everest pro,sisoft sandra pro etc to get the details easily....

On the "System" tab see System Manufacturer and System Model. Thats your motherboard. In my case -

System Manufacturer: INTEL_
System Model: DG965RY_

Also, you can do what Karan said. If you want it to be shown in a nice window with search options, do:

Start->Run "msinfo32"
