Default Help me out with the PSP

hey,

after a long time debating on which type of a media player i should get i have finally made up my mind to get myself a PSP. I'm headdin over to my local store tday to buy one.

Since thr are a lot of ppl here who already own the PSP i would like them to give me some suggestions on what i should look out for or the precautions i should take while buying it! like the firmware ver. etc etc...

i'm going to get a premodded one so i don have to face all those hassels!!

If you're getting a pre-modded one, you don't really need to worry about firmware and stuff.

But you should consider waiting a bit. Sony is releasing a PSP with a minor upgrade pretty soon, I'd say within the next month or so. Its supposed to have curved edges and a transreflective screen and some other pretty nifty stuff.

^^
And a motherboard with all new lot which still can't be hacked to run homebreew, which in turn makes PSP not worth what will you pay for. I run divx directly on PSP without converting the format, save my battery with lite mp3 player, chat on yahoo/msn, watch you tube videos etc etc..all because of homebrew apps.
Without modding the system is useless imo.

Get PSP Slim and Lite with a screen protector and a foam cover. Get a foam UMD+MS protector pouch and obviously get it modded with the 3.90 M33-3 CFW.

Buddy,

u need to buy the old PSP a.k.a PSP 2000 SLIM & LITE as soon as u can coz according to Sony (worldwide incl. Sony INDIA) they hv plans to phase out (replace) all the existing PSP SLIM & LITE a.k.a the PSP 2000 version with the newest PSP 3000 wich (forget abt the many upgrades it will be having) will be ANTI PANDORA wich simply means tat u WONT BE ABLE to INSTALL CFW wich means NO MODDIONG allowed and hence u cannot install homebrew (custom PSP fan community made stuff) and more importantly NO PLAYING of D/LOADED GAMES wich u will hv to do ONLY buy buying those costly Rs.1500/- or so UMDs...
-------------

So act fast my friend..

u can purchase the PSP SLIM & LITE (a./k.a PSP 2000) at an official price of Rs.8990/- and the modding will be done (maybe by charging u an extra amt of money, say Rs.500/-) but YES be ONE THING SURE......... PLZ GET an UNmodded PSP and tell that person to MOD it in ur presence..
-----------------

Cheers n e-peace...

Well NO, DO NOT TRY TO UPGRADE the Firmware urself plz... we are not experts in this even if its a simple to do thing (as said by many ppl on net and elsewhere) so Y u wanna brick (break, make it non functional) ur PSP yaar !!!

plz get it modded to CFW (custon firmware) of 4.0x m33 or 3.90 m333 (3.90 m333 is the most stable till date) while 4.0x (or 4.05, watever) is the latest, but MAYNOT be stable...

I hv 3.90 m333 CFW installed since the past 3 months and not a single problem..
--------------------------------------
the other things to look out for is tat u can buy a

1.) 4 GB sandisk MSPD (Memory Stick Pro Duo) card for Rs.1600/-
2.) a crystal (plastic hard case) for the PSP wich is not like those CHEAP mobile fones covers but its really sturdy wich will prevent ur PSP screen as well its body from finger marks..
3.) buying a screen scratch guard protector is NOT RECOMMENDED if u hv purchased the crystal case and infact u SHUD be purchasing the case rather then the guard...first..
4.) U can get games from net, esle if u are noob in this.. tell that guy to put games like RIGDE RACER 2 (yup the RR 2 is out) , FIFA 2009 (its out too on torrents), SOCOM titles (plz plz buy them pleaseeeeeeeeee )
5.) the Pouch will cost u around Rs.250/-
6.) the Screen protector will be Rs.250/-
---------------------------------------
