Problem writing DVD DL, low disk space

My attempt to copy a DL DVD (The Sound of Music) failed. Then when I tried to create an image, it is found that the problem was low disk space. I have total of 10 GB in C and only > 7.5 GB is free. Is there any way out, other than repartitioning? Or can I resize C without need for re installation of Windows (XP)?

What software are you using for burning the DVD ? Nero, Ashampoo ?

Make yourself clear. Were you trying to copy it to another disk or copy it to your HDD?
If you were trying to copy from one disk to another, then the problem might've been lack of space to create the temporary image. If you're using Nero, there's an option to change the location of the temporary image. Change it to a drive which has enough space.
