Default can a cheep sound card improve sound quality?

I recently bought a creative inspire 4.1 which has two mono input and i had to connect it to the computer with a jack. the sound quality is good but i wnat to know that will it get more enhanced if i connect a 16bit 6.1 channel sound card sound.. ?

i saw a 16 bit 6.1 channel sound card in the store which cost rs 450. will it improve the sound quality if i connect it ? my mother board is Intel D101GGC,

whats ur onboard sound driver ?
i dont think a 16bit ordinary soundcard will improve ur sound quality. Creative sound blaster can do. but if ur onboard sound is high def. realtec sound then i think it is enough for creative 4.1.

Not much of an advantage, spend the money on a software like SRS Audio Enhancer, works awesome, and it's like 500Rs.

I do use SRS Audio Enhancer and agree with comp@ddict.

But if u want very good sound quality .. U should invest in a sound card.

Yes, if u're an enthusiast then settle for a sound card within 3-5k like

Creative X-Fi HS350 @ 4.5k

Other option for entry level 5.1 super sound is:
Creative Activa 5.1 @ 1k

if 3 years old, u need a sound card for better output from speakers..but since it is creative 4.1, i will suggest just settle for creative audigy 24bit
