A porn site as homepage??? (HELP HELP)
Hi guys,
Whenever i login to internet explorer a porn site comes up as a homepage....I have tried to change it by going on tools internet options and change home page but when i restart the PC the poblem persists.
I think we would need to do something in the windows registry but am not really sure abt it.....
Can someone plz help me....

It's most likely spyware. So download MS Antispyware,Ad-aware ,Spybot S&D , And Hijack This.Do a scan With all of these. And post the results of the Hijack This scan on the forum. SwatKat will take care of the rest. 8)

Download Ad-Aware or spy-sweeper .... & run it!
Also post ur hijackthis log file here!

MS will come to your rescue forever. You can find the antispyware in the latest DIGIT DVD or at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
Scan with it and all your problems'll be solved. Keep the security settings in the software tight so that you can stay away from such problems in the future.

enough solutions...
i would like to add something towards precautions which can help u in future....which doesnt let u go down in future..
ms internet explorer has some loopholes which can be fixed with windows service pack 2 (avl wid digit cds a few months back) ....u can also use firefox browser which is much better in many aspects...gud lucks wid ur fight against pornos

I think having porn is not a problem .. but getting it digged into ur web-browser is a bit tedious .... at times it might be tht U have to use ur system with ur frd's or the worst possible case ur family members ...

 I can show you at least 5 reasons why SpubotSD is better than Ad-Aware, "Cydoor" is just one of them. I use Ad-Aware (Pro) +SSD and only SSD detects 3/4 such pests which are not detected by AA.
But this here is a simple case of BHO exploit. So I would suggest Hijack This! scanning and hands-on fixing based on what the log shows.
And MS AntiSpyware also sucks big time - it even says "My Web Search" toolbar is a safe component to install  And it will not remain freeware for ever

Once it happened in my pc. It was due to a chm file, which is a help file format. It was located in c: (parent directory) if it is there remove it and it should work. In internet options in homepage field wat url is provided if u can post it here, it wud be more better to help.

Be careful next time while you click on pages which show this kind of stuff, they are really bogus and to add to your woes have lots of spyware and trojans in it.

Download MS anti-spyware & do a clean.
Then try spy sweeper as well. They did quite a good job for me....

I was looking for a cr*ck (word which should not be named here) in some sites one of those loaded that chm file in my pc which had the images, html file embedded in it. So, after manual removal it got ok.

it must b a real embarasing situation to open ie and b greated with u know wat
i had a similar problem some time ago. whernver i tried to go to any site i would b redirected to a stupid french that i had clicked accidently while trying to close a popup. i started using spybot sd and its kept me outta trouble so far

But it is still under development and i dont think its has crossed its beta stage.
And talking bout security services from microsoft.
In IE the content adviser or blocker..tool when
enabled blocks everything that is hot and the comedy is that it blocks their very own website 'Hotmail.com' as adult content and unsuitable for viewing.

Thats security for MS.
Spybot S&D is # 1.
But being freeware their definations update service
is not upto the mark.
Try System Mechanic ver 5.
It has a spyware removal feature which is quite reliable if not the best.
But the plus point is that its very fast and can be updated from the iolo site with a singleclick.
Also when it is memory resident its not very resource hungry.
Check it out U ll love it.
