Is it safe to relocate program files?
My C drive is almost full. I want to relocate files to other drives using programs like 'Application mover'. Is it safe to relocate program files to other drives?
If no , what to do?!!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
Not fully safe. Remove softwares and reinstall on other drive.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
Format your C and install only the stuff you need. If you cant, be brutal with the shift delete.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
You don't need any software to do this. Just moving the folder to another partition works fine for me. Then, you just have to change the target of the shortcut.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
^^You will have to change all the locations in the registry as well.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
^^Yeah, but not in all cases.
I successfully shifted the location of CS without making any registry changes.
Even then, it's quite easy. Just search the registry for any entries made regarding the particular program, and change all the locations to the new one.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
I'd suggest uninstall and then re-install in another partition
Dont use any software as it might screw up your files.
@beta testing
A few apps can be Ctrl-C ed to other drives without any effect on registry, not all apps

CS doesnt depend much on the registry. The only apps that depend a lot on registry are some games. Their protection schemes are dependant on the correct path and are usually encrypted in the registry. Take Bioshock for an example.

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
^^Yeah right. Not all, but some.
@thewisecrab- Ctrl Cing to another partition is not what we want to do, it's Ctrl X and then Ctrl Ving that we want to do

Re: Is it safe to relocate program files?
If you are uninstalling the program and then installing again, remember to keep the settings. I.e, don't uninstall the user settings as well.
