Runtime error 216 at 000029E0

This is a wierd problem!
Whenever i try to cut a file(mostly) the system hangs and then in the task manager there is a new program "cmd.exe", when i disable it it gives the above mentioned error. The whole desktop then renews itself!
The problem is not caused when the file is copied and pasted!

I know its not a sub-7 trojan coz i have very high security settings on my pc!
And i scan my pc with trojan removal tools and norton AV 2005 regularly!

If u got any experience with dis problem plz lemme know abt it!!

I havent checked safe mode, but the problem normally arises during heavy load on the system like when i have opened 10 internet pages simultaneously and winamp,NAV,spy software etc running or after long time of working!

See, cmd.exe is the command interpretor of Windows 2k/XP OSs. If you'll launch it from Run command line, it'll provide you a command prompt. But this is a little wierd as cut-paste is no reason for it to start. Search for this file and verify whether its version and Digital Signatures are ok. Also please make sure you have not assigned any shortcut key to a shortcut to this file. Try running sfc/scannow to check for invalid sstem files or try difrent antivirus software.

cmd.exe is fine and i tried searching for cmd.exe in all system PATHS! and no shortcut key is assigned too!

Download HijackThis and unzip it to dedicated folder (like C:\HijackThisFolder\hijackthis.exe).
Then run it and click the button Do a System scan and save log file. HijackThis will perform a scan and saves the log file as hijackthis.log in the same folder where it is installed and it also opens the file automatically.
Copy the entire contents of the file and post it.

Tried the subseven thing offered by MS & Symantec - but I don't have the trojan.

Symantec website says sub-7 will disable regedit, so you can check whether you can open regedit or not to rule out sub-7... Also, try to download Filemon from http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html and run it using a filter for cmd.exe... You may find out if some other program is creating cmd.exe on the fly for execution...
You can also check Process Explorer at http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...sExplorer.html to see if you can find more info about cmd.exe when it is created...
