not getting sound icon

I hav win xp and whenevr i install antivirus software i dont get the antivirus icon and sound icon. pls help

Which antivirus? Do you get sound?

And did u have the sound icon before installing the AV?. Anyways go to control panel >> sound & audio devices and check if the "Place icon on task bar" option is enabled.
