Wink How to damage a hard disk permanetly?

Hey, guys.
I was wondering, what is the best way to damage a hard disk permanently, without the need of brute force, of course? I want to know both ways, hardware and software? Is there really a virus that can do it? The external magnet method is out of question, of course.

For those of you who always want to know why instead of just answering the question, lets just say that you never know when you'll need to use that kind of technique. It may soon come in handy.

We are not going to be a part of your whatever tactics you're planning. If you want to get rid of it , better just give it away to someone in need, or throw it off the bridge for all we care!
