search option is not working

Hi,

I have WinXP, Professional,

I have used avast antivirus software, I think it deletes some system file from that day the Search option is not working, Search window is open but its not searching, So what can I do,

nothing as such as i also use avast 4.6 pro but no such irregularity

That is a documented bug in Win Xp .. Installing Service pack will take care of it .. Install Service Pack 2 for WinXP on your system ..

OR u can try..this
1st keep ur XP cd handy

go to command prompt by start->run->cmd->sfc/scannow

when it asks for Xp cd enter it and it will restore any corrupt files u have
