Default Time taken to copy data from DVD to HDD

Hello friends
I have recently bought a dvd writer form ASUS.

It is taking about 7 minutes to burn full 4.7 data on dvd. Is it a good time or is it slow.

Also it takes 12 minutes to copy all files from dvd to hdd. Also is it good time or is it slow.

^^
ASUS DVD Writers are real. And good too.
My Lite On one takes similar time (Around 7 min.) to write a DVD.
So its absolutely fine.

clmibx it also depends on what kind of data are you burning, like is it one single file of 4GB or several small assorted files accumulating to 4GB or an ISO image that would burn to 4 GB. All the above burnings would slightly differ in burning times.....

for me 4.7 GB scattered data takes around 4-5 minuts. One single file around 4 minutes and fastest is burning an ISO image...around 3 min. This is on a 16X DVD burning at full 16x.
And BTW mine is also ASUS SATA DVDRW.

Some times the drive is set to PIO mode..... that also makes a difference. People who see PIO mode should change it to "DMA if available". That should make a diffrence.
