K&R would naturally mean Brian W. Kernighan , Dennis M. Ritchie.
The book is this --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_C_P...Language_(book).
For java Thinking in java by bruce eckel.

Re: Suggestions for Books on Computer Science and Engg. Course
first 3 years of Engg == local author text books + solved university question paper...FTW
d00d u must study *effectively* rather than as an idealist. study ur local author textbooks well and solve the prblems given in those
nature of problems given in refrence books may vary greatly from those that appear in uni papers. local authors reflect it accurately in their books
also usin ref books, u will have to spend a lot of time preparing notes before you can start studying bcos the content wud be spread all over the ref book unlike the local tb
instead of spending this time with these ref books, use it to bwecome active member of ur college's MESA, IEEE or SCE - ur cocurricular activites will be of great help to you as u go abt ur engg and beyond
