Smile Suggestions for Books on Computer Science and Engg. Course


I am soon going to pursue B. Tech in Computer science & engg. course.
Anyone who has knowledge of the course or has pursued it before help me in :
- Selecting the best books (by author and publisher name) for the course.
- Selecting the language for programming (c/c++).

C,C++ mein to hamare yahan Yashwant Kanitkar ka naam chalta hai. Balagurusamy bhi achhi book hai C++ k liye.

I will recommend OOP in C++ by Robert Lafore and C++:The complete reference -Schildt Herbert for C++.
Which college? Name the subjects as well
I read these (IP University,Delhi)
Physics-Gaur and Gupta(Also ,DS Mathur, Kittels, SM Pillai for some topics)
Maths-Engineering mathematics by VP Mishra
Mechanics-DS Kumar, AK Tayal
Electrical Science-BL Thareja/JB Gupta
Chem - Sunita Rattan
Engineering Drawing -SC Sharma

K&R would naturally mean Brian W. Kernighan , Dennis M. Ritchie.

Hey u r going to start ur CSE course.................good..........Best of Luck

In 1st sem.............there is no computer related subjects(if u r under UTECH and they still have not modified d course!!!)

Mechanics-Engineering Mechanics by Timoshenko and Young(solve all d excersises in it n u'll be invincible in mechanics)
Math-Grewal(Even u'll get common questions from this book in ur maths paper!!)

Are Maths bahut hi tention-wala cheez hai.......
In initial semesters its quite allright.............uske bad jab Discrete ata hai................uffffffffffffffff.............. ..I still get nightmares......(ring theory, 50 theorems)

Babu dekh har University ka alag hisaab kitaab hai, baaki jo Languages
ki book haiwohto sab jageh same bhi hai aur alag bhi
. Same by the wayof Author,alag by the way which one you can undesratand. To meri maaney to pehle dekh college waley kaunsi bolte,shortlistkarphir hum batate hain kaunsi achhi hai

Thanks guys ! I have not yet been to the university but will tell u the subjects and books prescribed by them at around end of this month when batches will start !

Please suggest the best book for Engineering Mathematics which has well-explained theory with examples ........... so dat i dont have to depend on the teacher for maths as i dont understand what he teaches !

Also give the complete book name with author and publisher ...

My focus will be on 1st year topics .

My Ist sem. syllabus is :
  • Infinite Series
  • Taylor's and Maclaurin's Series
  • Asymptotes
  • Curvature
  • Curve Tracing
  • Partial Differentiation
  • Applications of Single Integration ( Volumes and Surfaces of Solids of Revoluion)
  • Multiple Integrals
  • Vector Calculus

first 3 years of Engg == local author text books + solved university question paper...FTW

d00d u must study *effectively* rather than as an idealist. study ur local author textbooks well and solve the prblems given in those

nature of problems given in refrence books may vary greatly from those that appear in uni papers. local authors reflect it accurately in their books

also usin ref books, u will have to spend a lot of time preparing notes before you can start studying bcos the content wud be spread all over the ref book unlike the local tb

instead of spending this time with these ref books, use it to bwecome active member of ur college's MESA, IEEE or SCE - ur cocurricular activites will be of great help to you as u go abt ur engg and beyond
