About Speed ?

Hi.........Everyone

I want to know my network card is showing 10 Mbps ....can i know is it a speed of my network? and what is 10/100 mbps speed. And plzz can anyone tel me how to check my internet speed yes i know what speed connection i have taken ...but where to check the internet speed ?

if you have high speed connection as 10 mbps, then I doubt any speed test site would give proper idea, bext is peer to peer share as in that there is no limit as how fast you can go and which can really give you a proper idea...

This is with my 8 mbps BSNL DATA ONE



as even with fastest FTPs, there is an upstream limit , bellow you may see DAP fails to go beyond certain speeds from single server !!!

A connection of 10 Mbps (Mb/s) means that it can transfer data at a maximum rate of 10 mega bits (not bytes) per second. 8 bits = 1 byte, so that's 1.25 Megabytes per second. But there's some "waste" involved for error correction, so the practical data transfer will be limited to about 1 MByte/s.

10/100 Mbps means that your network interface can run at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps depending on the rest of the system it is connected to, and on how it is configured. For example, if you use a hub, the speed is limited to 10 Mbps. A network switch can run at 10 or 100 depending on the devices connected to it.

By internet speed, I assume you mean the actual speed of your downloads. That depends on more than one factor such as the website, the quality of your phone line or cable, how busy the server is and so on.

Most ISPs have provision for testing the speed of your connection. For BSNL, go to http://www.dataone.in/ and click "Check Download Speed".

I have youtelecom brodband connection and the speed is 96 kbps unlimited....My question is i know my speed is 96 kbps but where can i check to know whether its showing me 96 kbps or not ?

Go to http://www.youtele.com/youtele08/html/index.php# and click "Click for speed test" on the right-hand side.

I'm not a Youtelecom customer and I'm not sure exactly how you speed will be displayed. But what such speed tests usually do is that a standard test file will be downloaded to your computer, and the speed will be calculated from the time taken to download the file.

Didnt even know BSNL had an 8 mbps plan..
