Bandwidth limiter

I am using DATAONE 250 plan and get 1gb download limit.
First of all an ackward question:
Is the limit 1gb or 1Gb?

Then I dont wish to overshoot my limit and so want a (preferably freeware) bandwidth limiter that stops the connection when I reach 1Gb mark(or 1gb mark).

Any suggestions?

If you're confused between GB and Gb, then the limit is 1 GB (1 GigaByte, not Gigabit).

DUMeter is the best for this job but it's a shareware. A free alternative is NetMeter. You can get NetMeter from http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/

apart from using data limiter softwares, also keep checking your usage from dataone portal. Blunders happen.

Those BSNL guys have not yet uploaded my usage details on the portal! I tried net limiter(trial) and also bandwidth monitor pro(unregistered). netlimiter hangs up my PC and I have uninstalled it. The other works fine but does ot limit my downloads.

NetMeter is working fine on my system!! Try adding it to the exclusions list of your AV.

Better be careful with that 250 plan.. u'll cross that 1 GB limit sooner than u'd think if u're not careful.. even with casual browsing, and emailing..
