Default SATA DVD Writer or SATA HDD ?

This may sound strange as both are different, I mean one for storage and other for burning DVDs.

Anyway, situation is like this.

My new MB has only 1 IDE port, rest- SATA. And I have 2 IDE HDD and 1 IDE DVD writer now. I connected 2 HDD to MB and DVD writer is not connected now.

Which will be a wise decision ?

1. Buy a SATA HDD, so present PC will have 1 SATA HDD, 1 IDE HDD and DVD writer, and I can use the other HDD in another PC.

2. Buy a SATA DVD Writer, so present PC will have 2 IDE HDD (as it is now) plus a SATA DVD writer and I can use the present DVD writer in another PC.

One more question (important lol) - SATA DVD writers exist ? Do they cost more ?

Please suggest. Basically I need 2 HDD in PC and one DVD writer - all connected.

buy one sata dvd writer

connecting hdd and dvd writer to same bus will degrade performance of both of them.

So, have two IDE HDD's and one sata writer.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I see SATA DVD writers exist and cost does not vary much. Just thought of something else (cost is high, so I may not go for it, but just a thought)

Option 3 - Buy a USB DVD Writer to solve this plus I can use that to take data backup from my laptop (laptop is slightly old and do not have in-built DVD writer)

sata DVD writers are widely available and they do not cost more.

OK, so I guess it is better to go for writer ? Prices are like 1.2 K etc too I think ? Thats good then.

USB ones cost more than 4.5 K I think, hmm not going for that now.
