i tried using the above software,as mentioned in this month's digit.
but when i tried converting an avi to vcd.i failed .
all the three encoders gave some errors.
when i used nuenc,i got the foll. error

please suggest a solution

It tells you that there was a problem with the 4CC for the file, so maybe you dont have the proper codec/splitter/parser installed. Download GSpot from here:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html

and run it to see what codecs you need to complete the operation. If you're having problems with Avisynth, you can very well use NeroVision Express 2 bundled with the Nero package to create your DVDs from AVIs without any bother.

btw , the quality would decrease while converting an avi 2 vcd . has something 2 do with the ' lossy ' nature of the mpeg-1 format used 4 encoding vcdz
