Default Suspicious registry key

I noticed a suspicious looking registry key:

HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSFT/Tracing

What is this supposed to do? Also some weird files like dot.exe are getting installed on my comp when I connect to internet. What are these?

when in doubt, play safe.

a dot.exe file can possibly be associated with AdWare.180Solutions

run a good anivirus like bitdefender, avg, kaspersky or avast.
run a couple of good anti-spywares like microsofts', adaware, spyware doctor or spybot.
run ace utilities or tune-up utilities or ccleaner to clean up your junk files and registry entries.

should take of your problem hopefully !

have a nice day !

There is no information on dot.exe, and its not a known/acknowledged malware/VULN so far. It may just turn out to be a newer virus/malware with a random filename, I would recommend waiting and checking it out before deleting anything. Although, checking out the active connections on the firewall/netstat wouldn't be a bad idea.
